Our MD, Mike, is a bit of an inventor. He has designed all sorts of odd requirements. Here are a few examples:

Remote Control Farm Gates
A local farmer wanted to be able to open his gates on his drive from his mobile phone. On the phone system he had we were able to utilise a spare number he had and with a special speed dial we put on his phone he could securely open his gates.

Warming the Holiday Home
A customer wanted to turn on his storage heaters in advance in his holiday home in Cornwall . He didn't want to put in a landline so we devised a secure system based on a £10 pay as you go SIM card avoiding £150 p.a. line rental.

Addressing the Public
BT swapped out the ancient telephone systems for a global aluminium extrusion company at twenty locations in the UK . Unfortunately they did not realise that these sites all had very large site public address systems that worked from the phone system. They worked on the old 'pulse' dialling and the new equipment would not support this. The cost to replace the tannoy to BT was not viable. BT Syncordia, their outsourcing arm, came to us and we devised a special interface that converted the tones (DTMF) from the new system to the pulse dialling that the paging systems could interpret. This saved BT a fortune. We later learned that BT had approached a vast number of specialist companies for a solution and that no one would touch it.

We love those out of the ordinary, unusual challenges.
